Havana's Daughters
Close your eyes and feel the thunder
Not of storms, but of a thousand heels
Clicking stories into ancient stones,
Where every street corner holds a secret.
Listen! Do you hear it?
The whisper of silk against warm skin,
The rustle of ruffles catching ocean wind,
The gentle percussion of bangles singing freedom songs.

Step closer now, don't be shy
Watch as she emerges from morning shadows,
Her dress a living sunset,
Orange and pink petals floating on air.
She is Cuba awakening,
She is music made flesh.
Follow her through cobblestone mazes
Where laundry lines become prayer flags,
Where her grandmother's lace collar
Meets her own fierce rebellion
Vintage meets revolution,
Tradition dances with tomorrow.

Feel your heart quicken as she laughs,
That sound like church bells mixed with jazz,
Her earrings catching light like captured stars,
Her skirt spinning stories of survival and celebration.
This is where beauty becomes weapon,
Where fashion becomes resistance,
Where every embroidered flower
Blooms in defiance of those who said
Cuban women couldn't shine this bright.

But oh, how wrong they were
Look at her now, look at them all,
These daughters of an impossible island,
Wearing their strength like the finest silk,
Their joy like the boldest print.
You came here a tourist,
You leave understanding truth
That some beauty is so fierce
It changes you forever,
That some women are so powerful
They dress the very air around them
In magic.

Havana's Daughters
At The Yellow Studio, we believe fashion is more than fabric – it’s story, memory, and resistance stitched into every seam. My AI series of women dressed in Cuban fashion is a love letter to that truth. Each portrait is a fusion of tradition and imagination, celebrating the vibrance, resilience, and artistry that Cuban women embody.
When I started creating these images, I thought I was just playing with color and fabric. But the more I built them, the more I felt Havana’s rhythm threading its way into the work – the music, the rebellion, the beauty that doesn’t apologize for being bold. The poem Havana’s Daughters spilled out of me as a way to give those women a voice.
You have stories like this inside you, too. Every artist does. Whether you tell them through fashion, poetry, AI, or paint on canvas, your voice matters. Your work carries its own rhythm, its own rebellion, its own joy. At The Yellow Studio, I want to help you bring that to life, to create art that not only looks beautiful, but says something.
That’s why I created First Sale Magic, my new self-led course that shows you how to share your art with the world and make your very first sale. If you’re ready to take that step, to let your own story reach the hands and hearts of others, this is your invitation. 💛✨🍋
