About

A few things you might not know about me... 🍋

I'm a bellydancer. Yes, really – I used to perform on stage and even taught classes. I name my plants and sing to them (and my cats get original songs written for them daily). I'm an honorary Mexican according to my old neighbor Migáno after I survived his wife's hottest salsa without flinching. Pineapple belongs on pizza and I will die on that hill.

I live in a tiny cabin in a forest on a lake on the Oregon Coast where my favorite Tuesday activity is a boat ride in the sunshine. I've been living slowly since 2017 and I'm never going back.

Also – true crime podcasts and reality TV are how I rest my brain. No apologies. 😄

And, if you know me, you know, there's always more to say (hahaha!)...

I love coloring books and using watercolors and colored pencils in them but good, old fashioned crayons are great too!

I love gardening - like love love love plants and trees. I name most of them and talk and sing to them.

I make up silly songs for my cats all day long and they love them.

I started slow living in 2017 and have never looked back. I refuse to return to the modern day grind and hustle.

I live in a forest on a lake on the Oregon Coast in a small cabin overlooking the lake. Favorite activities include boat rides on a Tuesday afternoon when the sun is out. Swimming in summer when the water gets warmer. Sitting on the deck with a glass of wine watching nature and the occasional boat go by. Walking the mile-long trail behind the cabin, even though a lot of it is uphill, I use that to my advantage to stop and take a break looking at the details of plants and animals and learning more about my environment – like the copper colored wood of a Red Alder or the tiny markings on a salamander.

Luxury Pricing for Artists: What a 1990s Portrait Studio Taught Me
From 1994 to 1999, I worked at a luxury portrait studio in the mid-nineties, back when families paid real money for framed portraits and hand-retouched prints. Two lessons from that job still shape how I run The Yellow Studio: luxury pricing for artists is about the entire experience (not the price tag alone), and no new tool, from Photoshop to AI, ever replaces the artist's eye. Receipts, Part 3 of the jobs that made me an entrepreneur.

Your Art Archive is a Gold Mine: Here’s How to Mine It
